Why Use WordPress for Your Website?

By on Oct 16, 2012 in Web Design | 0 comments

If you are new to WordPress or would just like to ensure it’s a good option for you, I’d like to offer some reasons why using WordPress as a CMS (content management system) for your website is the way to go.

Top 5 reasons to use WordPress for your website

1. It’s Easy!

One of the biggest advantages of WordPress is that it’s easy to use. If you’re a beginner trying to learn the ropes, WordPress will allow you to make a website without knowing any code. On the other hand, if you’re an experienced web developer, WordPress has all of the familiar inner workings to give you complete control over your website. Either way, WordPress puts you in control. It gives you the freedom to focus on the content of your website rather than the technical details of how to make it work.

2. It’s FREE!

WordPress is open source and licensed under the GPL so it’s free to use for any type of website. I don’t know about you, but when I heard that I was thinking, “FREE? Right so where’s the catch?” Let me tell you, there isn’t one, seriously. The people who made WordPress are just genuinely nice, generous people. Wordpress is free to use forever, they will not charge you after a certain time period or block access to certain things if you don’t pay up. They really do just give it away for free!

3. Gives you powerful business data

When you release a new website the last thing you want to do is throw it up and just hope for the best. You need the numbers! WordPress integrates easily with services like Google Analytics and KissMetrics to track how people are interacting with your website. This not only gives you information about your website, it gives you powerful insights into what your customers want and how you can better align your business with their needs.

4. SEO – Spoon feed your website data to Google

A successful website needs proper search engine optimization (SEO) in order be found easily on search engines like Google. The idea behind SEO is that if a lot of people can find your business through a search engine, you will get a lot of visitors to your website, and if you do it right, you’ll get a lot of business. Not only is WordPress built for SEO right out of the box, it also has an extensive list of SEO plugins which give you even more control and make SEO even easier. Search engines love WordPress, plain and simple.

5. Social Proof – WordPress is HUGE

The list of reasons why you should use WordPress could go on and on, but I kept this list nice and short because I think this last reason will lead you to everything else you need to know about why to use WordPress. The reason is social proof. Don’t just take my word for it, look around on the internet and see for yourself. WordPress is everywhere, everyone’s talking about it, and it’s only getting bigger. Studies in April of 2012 showed that 49% of the top 100 blogs in the world use WordPress. According to Wikipedia, “WordPress is used by over 16.7% of Alexa Internet‘s “top 1 million” websites and as of August 2011 manages 22% of all new websites. WordPress is currently the most popular blogging system in use on the Internet.”

If you’re still not sure that WordPress is the best choice for your website, you better ask somebody.
